Southern Sip & See Baby Shower

This was so much fun! These days entertaining is at the tippy top of my list. The more, the better. THIS means alot of the time-consuming, perfectionistic, over-the-top details are not happening.

It is really difficult for me to be okay with it, but the more time we can spend with family and friends...because I am not worrying about the details...is so worth it.

This last week, my dear friend Tamie and I threw a simple Southern Sip & See for her new, most-adorable grand baby girl! {They call her Honey Gram...isn't that the cutest?}

Sip & See's are common in the South. They are much more casual and a bit more like an Open House where guests can come and go. We did it on Wednesday evening at 6:00. So that allowed people who were working late or hubby's getting home to watch the kiddies a bit more flexibility in coming when it was convenient for them to show up.

A light dinner was served and we all enjoyed passing babycakes around and visiting!

No party favors, no food labels, no last minute stress. We shared in food preparations and the decorations were re-cycled from past parties. Simple.Simple.Simple. Sip & Sees are the way to go.

How do you keep celebrations simple? Any ideas? OR How could you simplify if they are too complicated?

Menu:
Sweet Tea
Key Lime Punch
Artisan Bread from a local bakery
Asian Pasta Salad...made ahead of time
French Macaroons from Elephants Deli
Biscuits and Berries with Whipped Cream aka Strawberry Shortcake...made ahead of time

  1. I'm like you. Make as much of it (food, prize bags, favors, decorations, etc.) ahead of time as possible. Also, I find that with kids, it makes it much more simplified if it can be held outside! I also usually ask one of my close friends to take pictures so I know they will be good quality and actually get taken! If I'm hosting, I rarely have time for that :)

  3. Thanks for stopping at Cranberry Morning! :-) The Sip & See sounds interesting. To simplify, don't have dogs who shed. Other than that, I'd say let the people who love making food do it and let the people who love cleaning house host the event! I think that all works out and everyone's happy doing what they like best!

  4. Absolutely love Sip & Sees. I've been to several, and they've been pretty relaxed affairs where people just have food and hang out. Plus, you get to see the baby, which is what everyone really wants. And Mommy gets to be out and about after being sequestered at home for the first month or so.

  12. Yesterday, while I was at work, my cousin stole my iPad and tested to see if it can survive
a 40 foot drop, just so she can be a youtube sensation.
My iPad is now broken and she has 83 views. I know this is totally off
